When we talk about a authentic professional portrait shooting — especially for creative women — it’s essential that the images go beyond aesthetics. They should tell a story, reflect essence, and showcase talent in a genuine and meaningful way.
And as a women’s photographer for 16 years, I’ve photographed countless professionals with this same goal.
That was exactly the purpose behind the portrait shooting I created for Pri Sahtler — an illustrator who wanted to capture her artistic universe in an authentic and inspiring way.

In this article, I’ll share the creative process behind this session, which turned the studio into a true art atelier. If you’re looking for ideas to create professional images that represent your identity, keep reading.
The Beginning of a Authentic Portrait Shooting: The Style Consulting
Every Authentic Portrait Experience begins with an essential step: Style Consulting. This is when I dive deep into each client’s world, learning about their story, personality, and goals for the session.

With Pri, it was no different. During our conversation, she shared visual references, elements of her creative process, and, of course, her illustrations. That’s when the central idea emerged — recreating her artistic environment inside my studio.
Turning the Studio Into an Art Atelier
To bring this concept to life, I transformed the studio into a real artistic atelier. We brought in Pri’s materials, created a panel displaying her illustrations, and carefully designed every detail to make her feel at home. The setting needed to reflect her essence as an artist — sensitive, creative, and authentic.

In addition to the atelier setup, we created other scenarios to represent the different stages of her creative process: from the introspective moments of research and inspiration to powerful, personal portraits designed to strengthen her digital presence and professional image.

Styling With Visual Identity
The choice of outfits also played a crucial role in this portrait shooting. We used styling as a form of visual language, combining pieces that directly spoke to Pri’s identity. We mixed colors, textures, and patterns — many designed by her — to reinforce her connection with her own artistic work.

This style curation not only enhanced her aesthetic as an illustrator but also contributed to creating powerful, personality-filled images that truly represent who she is.
Purposeful Professional Portraits
What I love most about the studio is its versatility. Being able to adapt every detail to each woman’s world is an essential part of my process. In Pri’s case, it meant creating images that were both professional and artistic — a true reflection of her personal brand.

The result was a session rich in symbolism, sensitivity, and strength. Images that not only highlight Pri’s talent but also tell her story with authenticity.
