Your professional portraits can be original and cool, too. That was our approach to this amazing personal branding photoshoot.

My client Alberto, a professional in the hospitality business in Zurich, came to me asking for portraits that represented his appreciation for Zurich and celebrated his 40th birthday, but could also be used as work portraits, bringing a fresh and original look to traditional business headshots.

So I’m going to tell you how we prepared and shot these amazing pictures.

Personal Branding, Repertoire and Aesthetics Guidance

Because of his request, we went heavy on his personal branding and identity in this photoshoot, bringing in more contemporary portrait references while still aligning with the editorial needs of the hospitality industry, blending freshness and professionalism.

Our briefing included more casual and relaxed poses and natural facial expressions, while looking chic, cool, and creative.

Alberto also brought some incredible portrait references from Monocle Magazine, whose vibe I adore and used as guidance for his personal style.

Business Portraits Preparation for Zurich Photoshoot

During the photoshoot preparation, we also curated a selection of amazing locations in Zurich, taking into consideration places that resonated with Alberto’s taste and lifestyle in the city. It’s a city with surprising architecture, mixing both old and modern with great elegance.

I also took into consideration during preparation some other conditions such as: light, logistics, and photo composition in the chosen locations, so we had a great script to follow and a guarantee of beautiful results.

It was amazing exploring so many beautiful locations in Zurich during the photoshoot. And with a pre-curated script, we had a dynamic experience, enjoying every minute of our time.

Consider this for your business portraits…

Who you are in life and work are sometimes absolutely aligned, and that’s why it is so important to bring yourself and your identity into your business portraits.

(Of course, it depends on your line of work, and that’s why I offer a bespoke photographic service for my clients.)

But even if you need traditional professional portraits, I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to take boring pictures to be considered professional. We can turn even a classic headshot into something that highlights your uniqueness as a professional.

That’s why I love creating and portraying personal stories so much. Each person is a whole universe!
