Self-Portraits

The Act of Portraying Oneself

Long before turning professional, Mariana explored various artistic mediums during her youth. Among them was self-portraiture, which emerged as a space for self-expression and identity building. It was the artist’s first step toward the world of portraits and the feminine universe.

Over time, these self-portraits evolved from a quiet personal search into a core pillar of her creative process, a realm where she experiments with new concepts and dives into the visceral pursuit of artistic creation.

Throughout her journey, self-portraiture has given rise to fundamental elements of her current production, establishing a symbiotic relationship between creator and creation. The scope of her work reflects moments, memories, and stories; a gaze that absorbs the world and returns every observation translated into photography.
